Dear Journal,
On Sunday, we had an appointment in Montgomery to find out about getting financial aid for our daughter's college. The appointment was at the Embassy Suites in Montgomery Alabama.
Sorry I couldn't get a better pic. I took it as we were driving away. Anyway, Montgomery is the capital of Alabama, so I had my Hubby drive by so I could get a pic of the capitol building. If we had had time to stop, I could have gotten a picture of the star on the capital steps where Jefferson Davis stood while being inaugurated as President of the confederate states in 1886. We had to get back home because I was scheduled to work that evening.
It was a nice little outing. I wish we had had more time to spend getting some more photos. Montgomery has a rich history and some beautiful architecture. Maybe we can go back around Christmastime and get some pics then. They always decorate the capitol for Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, a couple of Christmases ago, we went to a Christmas party, I am pretty sure I wrote about it in my journal. The party was at Regions Bank in Montgomery. I snagged a pic of it, again taken from the car as we were riding, so it is not that great, but you can see what an impressive building it is, and our party was up on one of the floors, probably about midway, so it gave a grand view of the city at night.

Another name for Montgomery is Monkeytown. I have vaguely researched the origins of that nickname and, it is as I feared, it is called that by redneck racists because of the high population of African-Americans. I hate phraseslike that which stereotype people.
Anyway, I have posted some pics of the things we saw while in Montgomery. I wish we had had the time to go to the River Walk by the Alabama River. Ahh well...maybe next time! Such is the story of my life. ::sigh::
Will write more as I have time, journal.
Susan
