Dear Journal,
I spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday helping my son puppysit my nephew's 9-week old rednosed brindle pitbull puppy. It was his anniversary and he wanted to take his wife to Florida. He asked my son if he would mind taking care of the puppy whose name is Zeus while they were away. My son is an animal lover like me, so of course he didn't mind.
To be honest, I have never cared much for pitbulls. When we lived in Colorado, a lady was attacked and killed while feeding her horses by her neighbor's pits that escaped from her yard. Her boyfriend heard her screams and went to help, they got after him, and he had to climb in back of his pickup to escape them. His son, best I remember, heard the commotion and came out with a gun, but unfortunately, it was too late for the woman because they had killed her. While we were living in Colorado, it was against the law in Denver to own a pit within the city limits.
My nephew got one a few years ago named Shady. She is beautiful and quite friendly. She has such beautiful eyes, as does Zeus.
Needless to say, over the three days, I became attached to Zeus very quickly. He is a typical puppy who likes to chew on everything. My cats didn't care too much for him and steered clear of him. Mary Jane didn't care for him either. She didn't realize he was trying to play with her.
Anyway, nephew showed up about 9:30 tonight to pick him up. I told him he couldn't have him back, we had done become quite attached. When Zeus saw my nephew, he went crazy trying to get to him. There was no question whose dog he was. So, we had to say goodbye, but fortunately, they live close by, so we can go see him anytime we want.........and Zeus changed my mind about pitbulls. I believe their disposition has a lot to do with how they are raised.
I spent yesterday nursing my daughter. She had a fever of 101.4, and was achy, and had a sore throat. I had to rub her back for her and run up and down stairs taking care of her needs. She has been asleep now for quite sometime. I slept with her last night since she was so sick. She is a Mama's girl.
Anyway, that has been the extent of my weekend. We have warmer weather coming in. Woo Hoo!~
Gotta go wash dishes and get in the bed. Daughter is out of school for the holiday tomorrow, but I still have to work. ::sigh::
Blessings!~
Susan

Hope daughter is soon feeling better! I definetely feel it's how the dog is raised 80% more than the breed. - Barbara
yes HONEY is a pit boxer and was raised for fighting and just did not have it in her. She would nto hurt a flea. she is such the baby and sweet heart only wants to be loved but yes full of energy never looses that. With any breed its all in how you raise them. If you knowthey are breed for mean things you do what you know curves that. Just like some people are born with a mean shorter tempermant and if they are nurtured then they dont go about using that side more than the good. I sure hope your daughter gets well soon and I love the pics of that puppy thanks for sharing it is nice to have a puppy
Hello Susan!! What an adorable name for the pup. Hope your daughter feels better. Now Aaron has the flu. I will be nursing him all day today as we are hanging pics. Courtney is my assistant today also being there is no school. Glad you enjoyed your time with Zeus. I believe every dog is different too and it may be that a combination of temperament and the way the dog is raised has to do with everything. Hugs,
Lisa
