PAIN, PAIN, AND MORE PAIN!~

Can you say A-G-O-N-Y? Can you say EXTREME ANGUISH?  PAIN?  EXCRUCIATING PAIN?  TORTURE? INTENSE SUFFERING?  MISERY THAT KNOWS NO END?

I don't know that I have ever suffered like I am suffering right now, or maybe I have and just forgotten who knows?

THE SITUATION:

I have an instability in my left shoulder.  I have already been through this with my right shoulder.  I had a right shoulder arthroscopy years ago for bursitis.  The pain didn't subside after the surgery.  I switched docs.  The new doc told me I had an instability in my right shoulder.  What it boils down to is loose ligaments.  He said when I would lay down to try to go to sleep, my shoulder was becoming partially dislocated.  Can you say OUCH!  He prescribed 6 weeks of physical therapy.  Told me if that didn't work, he would have to do surgery to repair it.  I was determined for it to work.  I had already been through shoulder surgery once and DID NOT want to go through that again.  It was horrificly painful.  Thank God, the PT worked! My right shoulder has been great ever since.

My left shoulder had started hurting similar to the pain I had experienced years ago in my right shoulder.  Of course, this happens after I lose my insurance in December.  Remember?  I had to leave my job because I could not work my schedule due to health issues.  My boss kept writing me up saying I never submitted her anything concerning my health issues (I did).  She just kept finding every little excuse to right me up.  I couldn't deal with that everyday and I quit.

Susan, my exboss, just found out her son who is probably like 3 years old may have Crohn's disease.  Please keep little Todd in your prayers.  Also, my nephew, Allen has cystic fibrosis.  He has since developed diabetes.  His parents came in from work today to find that their air conditioning had gone out and Allen was laying in the living room floor in a near diabetic coma.  Thank God they got home when they did and they were able to administer first aid to him as needed and get him turned back around.  Please pray for Allen.  He also has been making some very bad choices as of late that greatly concerns our family in regard to alcohol, drugs, etc.  Because of his already fragile state, these vices could be deadly for Allen.  Please, please pray for him.  He is so special to me and my family, especially my daughter, as they have always been close.

As for my situation, I was out walking my dog, Mary Jane, about a month ago on a retractable leash.  She suddenly darted to chase something when I didn't expect it.  Of course I had to have the leash in my left hand, which is rare because I am naturally right-handed.  When she reached the end of the leash, it jerked my shoulder.  I felt it tear then.  The pain has been gradually getting worse.  I am thinking it is probably a rotator cuff tear.  Rotator cuff tears are hard to fix.  Once they are torn, it is usually a chronic condition from that point on.  My Mom has had rotator cuff surgery twice and thinks she has torn it again.

I cannot get comfortable no matter what position I am in.  I have been in tears today off and on because it hurts so badly.  I called my doc and asked him to call my pain medication in.  He only called my thyroid medication in.  Another night without pain meds.  Oh joy!  Any volunteers out there to take me out in the pasture and shoot me like on old horse and put me outta my misery?  I really don't think I can bear another night of this intolerable pain and I have a high tolerance for pain!!!!!  I had both of my babies natural!  Anybody?

I can't even dress myself!  I feel like an invalid.  CJ, please come home.  I need you! (My baby girl is currently in S.C. visiting herBFF~).  Hubby and I are supposed to drive to the other side of Atlanta on Saturday to meet her BFF's Mom and pick her up.  We are bringing her BFF back with us this time.  She will visit for about a month.

Hey Doc! Please call in my Tramadol, for the love of God! ::sniff,sniff::

Geez, I am so sorry.  Kevin has constant pain, and his most recent surgery was on his shoulder.  I fear it will never be the same.  He had the rotator thing, ligament damage, and 2 other things that are escaping my memory.  He hurts all the time, so I really feel for you.  Please Doc, call in the meds, OK?

Hi Susan
Sorry to hear you are in such pain.  My shoulder hurt on and off but nothing like you have described.  I hope you get your pain medication or at least get some relief.

Are you still able to work with that much pain?

Ann

Sending up prayers for you and those you mentioned. Around here Doctors are not allowed to call in prescriptions for pain meds but will write a subscription and leave it at a desk and you have to go their office to pick it up to have it filled. I pray that you will find relief soon. Hugs, Helen

Do you qualify for any state medical insurance?  Up here we have things like family health plus.  It is a shame that you should have to suffer.  Some hospitals have programs where you don't have to pay either.  I hope you feel better soon.  Linda

Oh OUCH!  I sure hope by the time you picked up your daughter that it was better! I don't remember reading anything about your shoulder in that entry but I could have missed it!

I believe tramadol is what they prescribed for my joint pain. It did help and last week, I was wishing I had a refill of the stuff. I hope your shoulder pain gets better, soon. I will add you and the others you mentioned to our prayer list.

Get well soon!

Hi Susan:  Sorry about your shoulder, and yes I'm familar with the pain you talked about.  Have you ever heard of a winged scapula?  Well I suddenly developed one, and I swear it seemed overnight.  Luckly there is no pain on that side of my body but the left side in the ribs and hips can be quite painful.  Crazy things are happening to me since my brain surgery.  Anyway the orthopedic doc said that what caused this dislocation of my scapula was either post infectious nervitis or an allergic reaction like I had to Protonix which put me into kidney failure back in Feburary. I was wondering how it could have been either of these because that was at least three months ago.  Do they guess when they don't know? Anyway he wrote in his report that the best thing they could do, since the long thorasick nerve let loose and wasn't holding the scapula in place like it usualy does was do nothing at all, no therpy or anything, and if after 6 months or so if the nerve doesn't heal then they'll send me to an orthopedic doctor that might be able to fix that shoulder.

Praying for you and all your family members in need of prayer.
