Before/After Photos

Dear Journal,

I am sooooooo tired and sore.  Painting is definitely a chore, but I will be so proud when it all is said and done.  I have put in before after photos of the fireplaces to set the record straight.  The bricks are antique brick and while my son was at work one day, my DIL painted the brick on the basement fireplace.  He was ticked off to say the least, as we were when we saw it, but since it had been painted and it would have cost money to sandblast it, we decided to go on and finish it with paint.  We used the colors she had originally picked out since we already had that paint and we are trying to save money any way we can; however, we designed it differently than she had intended.  She had planned to paint it half and half on each wall and put a border up like you would do if there was a chair rail.  She really likes the centennial stuff with the sun, moon, and stars.

I have a throw rug in the basement that has the two wall colors in it, plus burgundy, taupe, and a green color.  The basement will be finished out with those colors being used for accent colors.

We plan to repaint the fire insert also with fireproof paint because it is looking really rough right now.  It will be really pretty when we get it all done.  I will take more photos as we make progress.

Blessings!~

Susan

P.S.  Please remember our troops in your thoughts and prayers!~

The after does look better but oh dear, painting the antique brick, what a shame.  Still it will look pretty when finished.

I know that was shocking if you weren't expecting the bricks to be painted.  Hope all turned out like it should be in the end.  A fresh coat of paint does wonders and always puts me in a redecorating mood.  So it always costs more than a bucket of paint.  LOL.
