A-O Pictures

Dear Journal,

I saw this in someone else's journal and thought I would do it.  I think it was Julie's (midwestvintage).  Whoever's journal I saw it in, they did each letter as an individual entry, but I don't have the patience for that, so I am doing them together cuz you're my journal and I can.  ::snort::

I got all the way up to O and it won't let me put it in, so I guess I will do O-Z tomorrow.  ::sigh::  What's the deal, AOL?  Sheesh!~

Good Nite!~

Scalzi's Monday Photo Shoot!~

Dear Journal,

I have already done this entry one time earlier in the week and after I got it all done and my graphics and photos in, then it wouldn't save and I lost my whole entry.  How frustrating is that?  I was attempting to participate in Scalzi's Monday Photo Shoot because I really like the subject he chose for this week.

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Show off a picture taken from a height.

We took this photo of the Coors Brewery in Golden Colorado from Hairpin road going up Lookout Mountain to view Buffalo Bill's Grave.  The name Hairpin road is a good one for that road because it is truly S-C-A-R-Y!!!!!!  I was a basket case the first time we went up that way.  For more info on the Coors Brewery, click on this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coors_Brewing_Company

I love learning about history, so I found the info fascinating.

On a sad note, my great niece was hospitalized with the flu yesterday.  She is only two, so please, please remember her in your prayers/good thoughts.  The flu can be fatal sometimes for the very young and old, in particular.  Here is a pic of my nephew with his daughter.  This was made Thanksgiving 2005 at my MIL's.

It is a beautiful sunny day here in the deep south.  Hard to believe we are expecting severe thunderstorms tomorrow night!  Oh, and one more thing.............................

Have a great weekend!~

Son In Accident!~

Dear Journal,

My son came home late last night about 10:30 PM and told me he had wrecked his car (the car I sold to him recently).  I couldn't believe it, but thank God my son is okay and the occupants of the car he hit are okay.  We do have insurance, so that is a really good thing!~

He said it felt like a large bug or something had landed on back of his neck.  He swiped at it and when he did, barely swerved, but unfortunately it was enough to hit another car in the other lane.  He side-swiped them he said.

Cars can be replaced.  Lives can't.  I praise God my son and the other occupants of the car he hit are okay!~

It's raining today here in the Heart of Dixie!~

Will write more later.  Time to go to work!~

Zeus

Dear Journal,

I spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday helping my son puppysit my nephew's 9-week old rednosed brindle pitbull puppy.  It was his anniversary and he wanted to take his wife to Florida.  He asked my son if he would mind taking care of the puppy whose name is Zeus while they were away.  My son is an animal lover like me, so of course he didn't mind.

To be honest, I have never cared much for pitbulls.  When we lived in Colorado, a lady was attacked and killed while feeding her horses by her neighbor's pits that escaped from her yard.  Her boyfriend heard her screams and went to help, they got after him, and he had to climb in back of his pickup to escape them.  His son, best I remember, heard the commotion and came out with a gun, but unfortunately, it was too late for the woman because they had killed her.  While we were living in Colorado, it was against the law in Denver to own a pit within the city limits.

My nephew got one a few years ago named Shady.  She is beautiful and quite friendly.  She has such beautiful eyes, as does Zeus.

Needless to say, over the three days, I became attached to Zeus very quickly.  He is a typical puppy who likes to chew on everything.  My cats didn't care too much for him and steered clear of him.  Mary Jane didn't care for him either.  She didn't realize he was trying to play with her.

Anyway, nephew showed up about 9:30 tonight to pick him up.  I told him he couldn't have him back, we had done become quite attached.  When Zeus saw my nephew, he went crazy trying to get to him.  There was no question whose dog he was.  So, we had to say goodbye, but fortunately, they live close by, so we can go see him anytime we want.........and Zeus changed my mind about pitbulls.  I believe their disposition has a lot to do with how they are raised.

I spent yesterday nursing my daughter.  She had a fever of 101.4, and was achy, and had a sore throat.  I had to rub her back for her and run up and down stairs taking care of her needs.  She has been asleep now for quite sometime.  I slept with her last night since she was so sick.  She is a Mama's girl.

Anyway, that has been the extent of my weekend.  We have warmer weather coming in.  Woo Hoo!~

Gotta go wash dishes and get in the bed.  Daughter is out of school for the holiday tomorrow, but I still have to work.  ::sigh::

Blessings!~

FROM WORST TO FIRST
THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ARE IN THE PLAYOFF LIME LIGHT!!!!

It has been 40 years since the birth of the New Orleans Saints football team.  Forty years of trials and tribulations......40 years of going through the wilderness.  But.....not any more!!!  On January 13, 2007, in an electrifying game in the Superdome against the Philadelphia Eagles, the New Orleans Saints won 27-24 in the second round NFC playoff games!!!!  A true victory for the Saints and their affiliates, the committed adoring fans, the city and the surrounding Gulf Coast area.

I know that not everyone follows pro football and could care less as to what the New Orleans Saints have accomplished.  You even have some people who think there should be less emphasis on the Saints and more on helping the Katrina victims.  But, for those of us who do follow the Saints from the sideline..........what an awesome win!!!!!! Victory is ours!!!!  The Saints are no longer the underdogs in the NFL.  Others used to mock them; now they fear them.  They are a force to be reckoned with!!

I'm not trying to make light of other people's feelings.  Everyone lives in their own little world having to deal with their own highs and lows.  Katrina victims are still going through hardships trying to piece their lives back together.  I know
firsthand.  My momma, two aunts, and an uncle have been living together in a two bedroom apartment in River Ridge, Louisiana for the last year and a half, waiting anxiously to move back into their homes in New Orleans east.  They have had their share of trials and tribulations, just like many of my other family members and friends who had their world turned upside down because of Hurricane Katrina, but I thank God they have survived their ordeal!!  God has protected them!  Through the love of God, they are hopeful, not hopeless!!!

As I told you in my last letter, God has not forgotten the city of New Orleans.  Through the devastation the city has encountered, God's love is shinning through.  People from all across the nation are still giving a helping hand.  You see it in the new construction and reconstruction taking place around the city and the Gulf Coast area.  Yes, I know there are many areas that remain desolate and still looks like a war zone.  It is going to take years to truly clean up those areas.  But you have to start somewhere.....and it is happening right now.

The New Orleans Saints had a wonderful winning season this year, 11 and 5 and have won the second round of the NFC playoff games.  They have boosted the moral of so, so many people.  The Saints have given people a sense of purpose in their lives.  It is the beginning of a new chapter in their lives that is good; they are not going to be beaten down over and over again.  It is a wonderful feeling to be on top and not the underdog!!

God is faithful and He wants us to be happy and prosper.  Through catastrophes, we sometimes go through the wilderness before we see the light at the end of the tunnel.  And when you finally can breathe a sigh of relief, I hope you see that God has been with you the whole time.   He is your inner strength to get you through anything.  The Holy Spirit is a force to be reckoned with!!

Thank you, Saints, for lifting our spirits!!!  May the Lord bless you and give you the strength to take us to the Super Bowl!!!!

While the Saints didn't make it to the superbowl, the message in this letter is something we all need to read and let it sink in.  There is still work to be done!~

I'm tagging ya!~

I stole this from Linda who stole it from LuAnne who got it from Dawn who got it from........well.....you get the idea.

A     Apple or PC?

We have two PCs.

B     Banking... online or in person, and if in person, drive thru or inside the bank?

I check my balances online, most banking is done via the drive-thru, but when I must I go inside the bank.

C     Coffee and Chocolate!  The two most important 'C's  Favorites please.

Definitely chocolate.

D     Dogs.  Do you have one?  If yes, what kind and it's name and why you named it that.  If no, then if you had one what kind would you choose?

We have one dog, Mary Jane.  She was already named when we adopted her from the Humane Society. Previous owner says she is part Siberian Husky/part Australian shepherd, the vet says Border Collie.  I will say she looks more like a Border Collie.

E     Elvis.  There was only one.  Favorite song, and if you ever or your parents ever, saw him live.

My parents saw him live.  My favorite song is I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You.  It was sung at my wedding 28 years ago.

F     Flowers.  Do you have a favorite to receive and/or a favorite to give?

My favorite flowers are roses; however, I usually send mixed arrangements.

G     Grandparents, do you have any left and if you are one, to how many?

My grandparents are all deceased.  I have no grandchildren.

H     Handy or call for help?

Depends on what it is.

I     IOU's any out there to a person, a friend or family?

Family.

J     Jello.  Love it?  Hate it?  Favorite flavor?  With whipped cream or cool whip or neither?

I love Jello, any flavor with whipped cream and/or cool whip.

K     Kiss.  Do you remember your first real kiss?  Where, who?

I was 14 and a freshman in high school.  We had finals.  During a break, my best friend’s brother wanted me to go to his car with him in the back parking lot behind our high school.  He unexpectedly leaned over and kissed me.  It was gross, as I was not attracted to him in the least even though he was to me.  How can you be attracted to someone you think of as a brother?  Wanda must have known he was going to kiss me because when I got back to class, I was late and she busted out laughing.  I was sooooooo embarrassed.

L     Language.  Do you speak any others?  Fluently or a little?

Nope.

M     Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck?

My son always said Pickamouse when he was little.  My dad, who is deceased now always called my Hubby Donald Duck because his name is Donald and he can talk like Donald Duck, so I pick both.

N     Neighbors.  Do you know their names?  Occupations?  Phone numbers?  Or not?

Depends on which side of the road we are talking about.  Randy and Lisa live across the road.  They have a son Joshua.  Randy works for the local Wal-Mart DC.  I don’t know where Lisa works and I don’t know their phone number.  Family lives on this side of the road on both sides.  The ones to my right are retired.  Their names are Aunt Bessie and Uncle Bob to the right.  My sweet MIL lives on the other side of me.  She never worked outside the home the whole time I have known her, but she raised nine kids, so she definitely worked and worked hard!!!!!!!

O     Olympics.  Do you watch?  Which is your favorite winter or summer?

I love to watch figure skating in the Winter Olympics.

P     Pluto.  What is your take on the planet being downgraded?

?????

Q     Quiche.  Have you ever had it?  Do you like it and what is your favorite?

Yes and don’t really have a favorite.  It is not something I eat very often.

R     Refrigerator.  Name three things in your refrigerator that you think are unusual.

Can’t think of anything unusual.

S     Safari.  Have you ever been to Africa on one?  A theme park version?

Nope.

T     Telescope.  Have you ever looked thru a telescope?

Yes, my Dad had one.

U     Umbrella.  Do you have one and what is its design?

Nope.

V     Vintage.  Do you have a favorite wine to share?  Or drink?

Nope.

W     Willies.  What gives you the willies?  You know, that shudder you can't stop?

Cockroaches.

X     X-ray.  Last one?  What body part and why?

Both feet.  I was having extreme pain in both.

Y     Yolk.  How do you like your eggs?

Anyway you want to fix ‘em.

Z     Zodiac.  What's your sign and does itfit your personality, in your opinion?

I am a Leo, but don't believe in it at all.

Now you try.  I am tagging you all.

Blessings!~

Susan

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth!~

No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth.  Sorry I have not been to my favorite journals lately.  Been sick for a couple of weeks now.  It's no fun.  Will try to catch up as soon as I can.  Even though I have not been around, you have all been in my thoughts and my prayers.

Blessings!~

Susan
