Getting to Know Your Friends Holiday Edition 2006

Welcome to the 2006 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends!

You know the drill. Don't be a scrooge!!!
Don't forget to sent it to me also.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?    Why can't I have both?

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?    Small stuff in stockings, presents wrapped and put under the tree.  Stuff too large to wrap, Santa just sets out.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?    Colored.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?   No.

5. When do you put your decorations up?   Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?   My Mama's dressing and my cousin's Sweet Tater Souffle.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: Laying in bed listening to "Santa" bring the presents in.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?   I truly don't remember, but I think I was about 7 or 8.  Seems like a friend broke the news to me.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?   Our tradition is to let our children open one on Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas Day, but this year I had to work Christmas day onsite at the hospital, so we opened them all on Christmas Eve.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?  Strings of colored lights, ornaments, and keepsake ornaments the kids made growing up, and and angel on top that blinks on and off.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?    I love snow as long as I can watch from indoors and don't have to drive in it.  That can be a nightmare.

12. Can you ice skate?     No, but my daughter can, does that count?

 13. Do you remember your favorite gift as a child? My Dancerina Doll

14. What is the most important thing about the Holidays for you?  To remember to do something for those who are less fortunate because that is what Jesus expects of us.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?  My sister's pound cake with the cream cheese frosting.  Yum! Yum!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?   While decorating the tree/house, we play Christmas carols and drink egg nog.

17. What tops your tree? An Angel, of course.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?   Definitely giving.

 19. What is your favorite Christmas Song(s)?    Mariah Carey's version of O Holy Night, Mark Lowery's Mary Did You Know, The Little Drummer Boy, Do You Hear What I Hear, and What Child Is This?

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?  Yum. I usually will eat anything sweet. ::giggle::

21.  Who do you miss the most when family is drawn together at Christmas time?   My brother, my Dad, and my grandparents.

22.  When do you take your holiday decorations down? Usually we take them down a day or so after Christmas.  Sometimes, we wait until New Year's Day.  This year they are STILL up and here it is the 4th because I have not had time to take them down!!!!!

I think I'll do the questions, even though I'm a few days late! Yes, it was a sad
day when I found out Santa Claus was a big sham!lol But as I got older, like 11
ish, I SHOULD have figured it out myself-but no-I was told by my 3rd grade
teacher, who was a nun-boy, my mom was MAD, and Gram was just plain
furious! Wanted to go down to the Convent and " Tell Sister Norbit {real name
folks} a peice of her mind!" She didn't, Pop told her to "sit down, and calm
down," because there wasn't anything she could do or say anyway, cause I
have a feeling Norbit would have said, "if you don't like the way we do things
around here-take your grand daughter and please leave." Private school's don't
fool around, yk~Sue, you say your friend 'spilled the beans'? Geesh....some
friend! lol Your Fav dish is what? tater souffle? Sounds interesting-I like souffle,
I like sweet potato's-I guess it works!~I'll anwser ALL the questions in my
journal, {really-I will!} because I have a lot to say about GIVING; hope you
stop by to read it, and maybe tell me what you think? ~Diane~
